Should grade 12 University level English be a requirement for entry into all university programs?

Grade 12 university level english should be a requirement for entry into all university programs because it is key for taking notes in university. We have been taught to focus on the key topics while listening or reading. This will help many who enter university as it will be easier for them to focus and work more efficiently at the same time. These strategies like communication will be very useful, without the proper use of communication it will be very hard to get anywhere in universities. It is best to take university english in high school as they don't teach it in university.

  1. Great blog! I liked how you talking about the importance of communication because it really is the key to life and success. Without effective communication skills and strategies life would be more difficult not only in a professional setting but in real world situations. However, I disagree that it is key for taking notes in university. I think other classes are a whole lot better at the note taking aspect of things then English. Overall, nice blog!

  2. I agree with your point about note-taking. My older sisters have been through university and they constantly remind me to make sure I'm learning how to efficiently take notes because when listening to lectures - it can be hard to note down everything. So yes, I definitely think that your point about learning how to focus on the important topics is very crucial to any post-secondary pathway anyone chooses. You made a good point when you said they don't teach it in university as they do in high school, so basically they just expect you to know the skills already. Good job!
